I would say that most of us are kind of in a rut in our personal everyday thoughts during the winter. Yes there are a lot of reasons why it’s is not a favorite season. However, I will say that I love because it can be romantic and you can make it fun. This time of year is a great excuse to take advantage of being romantic with your spouse because it’s cold and there are many opportunities for physical touch.
Go for a walk in the snow, while it’s falling or after the fact. There is something amazing about the snow falling so quietly, it’s an awesome reminder of God’s presence. Start a fire and cuddle up with a good movie, or some snacks with a blanket on the floor in front of the fireplace and actually communicate about things that matter personally, not work, kids, or money! And if you don’t have a fireplace, light a bunch of candles and present a candle light dinner with maybe some slow dancing later in your living room. Or you can get away for a short weekend to a place equipped with a fireplace. Cuddle in the kitchen and make a good dinner together or some great winter comfort food and feed each other, go sledding together, have a snowball fight and make up, plan dinner and a movie, go find a good spot to park and make out in the car….. your married!
These are just some ideas but I think we all need to understand how important it is to remember that we are responsible for making our relationship fun. It’s okay to do some of the things you used to do when you were dating. Don’t just settle because your married now, be creative, have fun, be romantic. Winter is a great reason to get reacquainted with your spouse and use the weather to your advantage.
Although this short blog is not a very spiritual one, it is relevant and necessary to your relationship in a really big way. This information is not intended to be a precursor to “sex” but if the romance is right……that is the next thing that can happen! Let me grace you with a few scriptures:
